A brave pack of Harriettes turned
up to weather the weather.
There were big grey clouds
threatening to send it down but Swampy and Tuitti Fruitti must have been
looking after us from that Hash Heaven as they kept the rain
away.
We wandered through parks and
streets and did a lot of sightseeing at the different homes, those
renovated and those still in original condition, some old, some new.
Back at the circle there were many
charges, champagne and jokes. Nosh was amazing and everyone enjoyed the
night.

Wiggles in the rain - run 193
|
Only a precious few harriettes were brave enough to
weather the night on Wednesday for the Australia Day run of the year.
What a wonderful way to see the city lights ...... In the
bucketing rain.
We started off under stars (well not too many of them) and
then the almighty decided to send it down. Washed out trail, but that didn't
matter as we just made our own way.
We did do a bit of window shopping on the way as a good
Harriette should.
And back at the wiggles abode we had traditional aussie day
bbq of sausages and salad and of course some champagne to top it off.
On on and thanks Wiggles.

Betty Boop at Home - run 187
|
The Hare, BettyBoop, informed us "this is the last Harriettes Run from
this address so we have tried to make it a little bit special by putting up the
bunting and balloons". The Run is a
loop de loop one so I hope you all take the right in and out loops!
Kotex run report said it was a very scenic run, in and out .....4/10
Returnees: Gold Digger : Handbrake :
Bobcat
Charges: Wiggle for being on the
phone: Bobcat for now being officially
retired : Mole for 'family breeding' Mole for her 'nostalgia - she brought some
copies of her notes from yesteryears - one even had a photo of Swampy.
Raffle won by Handbrake
Spreadem mentioned that it was time to choose a new GM as she had been
'doing it' for about 3 years!!!
Thankfully Kotex has stepped up to take on the job good on you Koty!
Big news of the night was that the Smith's (Mole, Weed, Handbrake and
Phuket) have purchased the Caravan Park at Herberton but we are assured that
Mole will still be spending a lot of her week in Cairns so will still have her
input into HHH.
There was aome discussion regarding the combined Harriettes weekend
- possibly at Kurramine Beach around the end of February, 2022.
On, on to August's Harriettes at Twisted Sista's.

Harriette's Earlville Run - run 186
|
It was a cold and windy night but the resilient Hariettes
set off to follow trail that had been laid by our "harriette for the
night" Not Yet who had offered to share the work with Tutti. Thank you very much Brooky, your assistance
was most welcome.
It was lucky that the rain actually eased up for a while
but most of the Harriettes carried ummbrellas so managed to enjoy a moderately
long trail. Mole's run report said
"It was the best run and well marked, so 10/10, however, because it rained awarded only 7/10.
Returnees.....Prickle Magnet, Spread'em, NoKnickers
Must mention here that NoKnickers had a nasty fall at
Ravenshoe last weekend and is nursing a scraped and badly bruised leg so it was
good to see that she made the effort to come along and join us tonight. Hope you heal very soon.
Charges:
Nom-de-Plume for trying to visit a fish and chip shop: Betty Boop stood in for Tutti as RA for
allowing it to rain: Prickle Magnet
and Betty Boop for talking so much that they lost trail: Nommy found a large puddle to paddle
in: The Orange (Harikrishna or Northern
Irish) gang (Mole, Nommy and Tutti) for all wearing HHH longsleeved orange
shirts obtained from an excellent run at Malanda some time ago. Spreadem for stealing Wiggles' firm
plate - note to Spreadem, might be a
good idea to find a firm plate to bring
along so that you are not obliged to use a floppy cardboard one supplied by the
Hare, especially as this one is soooo
cherished by Wiggles, or so she said!
Next combined Harriettes weekend away - possibly in
February, 2022.
On, on to Spread'ems for Run 187, 28th July,2021.
Cheers, Tutti

Our Run from the Posh End of Town (According to the Hare) - run 185
|
We were welcomed by the Hare,
Wiggles, and given the instruction that the arrows would be found clearly
marked on the kerb side of the pavement and it was on, on across the road from
Clarendon on Spence.
Walkers report: Spreadem was ‘stunned and amazed at the
wonderful walk’ ….9/10
Charges: Betty Boop for being outstanding and amazing
because she managed to be flat out on the front and the back, so Wiggles
said. Spreadem chg for still not
bringing the Harriettes shirts along.
Tutti for not making it to the drink stop. Betty Boop for falling flat on the ground
but still managing to catch up. Koty
for showing off her new tooth, evidently she had the longest, biggest screw to
have it installed. (Interpret that any
way you wish!) Lo Profile chg to
Nom-de-Plume, Handbrake and Bobcat. Spreadem chg for talking forever about dick
(wot the!) Mole chg for having a
birthday.
Raffle won by the birthday
girl – well done!
Much laughter and chatter
prevailed and tasty nosh consumed, mainly prepared by Gangbang, the pseudo
Harriette for the night. Thanks
Gangbang and Wiggles.
On, on to Tutti’s Run on 31st

Harriette's 184th run
|
It was lovely to welcome back DNA, Handbrake, Nom-de-Plume and Witch Angel to
our run in West Cairns where we enjoyed seeing
the sports grounds and other areas near the West Cairns Bowls Club on our
walk. As usual, much chatter prevailed
and the weather was kind, eventually displaying the beautiful Super Moon coming
up over Cairns.
After great nosh and some bubbles, it is On, On to Wiggles Run next month at
Clarendon on Spence, 79 Spence Street, Cairns.

End of March Run by Kotex
|
Cool evening arrived with black clouds threatening all around and we were
very fortunate no rain fell on the Harriettes however numbers were down so I
guess some decided they were not waterproof, or just busy getting ready to go
away for Easter. We surely missed seeing
one of regulars, Wiggles, and we hope she is getting over her nasty traffic
tangle and will soon be with us again.
Run report from Prickle Magnet quoted a distance of 5.6 walked and around
IN some places she had never been before......thoroughly enjoyed the experience
and awarded 8/10.
Charges: All the Harriettes not
here: (More bubbles for those present): DQ for being waylaid by a young man, may have
been a relative?
Raffle won by Prickle Magnet
Much discussion was had because we do not seem to have a Hare for next
month's run so please consult the website in a week or so to find the address.
Happy Easter everyone!

Mole's Best Run Ever This Year - run 180
|
Of course it is, it is the first Harriettes
Run this year! Wiggles’ run report said
it was a good run with lots of twist and turns and seeing lots of old
Queenslander houses not viewed before, however got them all guessing when the
arrows took them inside Barlow Park.
Hope any athletes attending training there didn’t think the Harriettes
had come to compete! Then on to the
Bungalow Hotel for a shandy drink stop before ‘on home’ to the car park at
Value Homes. 8/10.
Returnees:
Nichole, Toni and Nicki
Charges:
Nicki for trying so hard to get to the start of the run but couldn’t get
away from work with Mole saying, ‘No you can’t go yet’.(They work together in
seems). Wiggles for not finding trail
before Spread’em chose the right trail and so she had a little tanti.
Kotex, Nicki and Tutti for somethingorother
sin.
Award:
On behalf of Nom-de-plume The Shirt was awarded to Wiggles for having a
tanti

15th Birthday Run - run 178
|
Thank you to all who turned up to celebrate our
15th Birthday and even bigger thanks to all who contributed in some way to
making it an enjoyable occasion. Many of
our original Harriettes attended along with some Harriers, and even a 'virgin'
Harriette, so it was a good 'mixture' of conversations and laughing.
The Circle was held away from the Jacks, in a
quiet cul-de-sac, and the nibbles and cold drinks were most welcome by the
sweaty walkers/runners. The GM called on
Twisted Sista to give a report and she reckoned the run was too long for such a
humid evening but Betty Boop thought it was lovely because it allowed plenty of
time for a chat on the way........10/10 was awarded, well it was a Harriettes
Run!
Charges:
TP tried to charge everyone not wearing a halo but that was modified to
the only person wearing a hat, Retard. Tutti charged Mole for spending 'long time'
chatting up the Hotel manager leaving the 'workers' trying to prepare the
circle nibbles standing on the hot pavement.
Weed charged Toni (the virgin) for using her phone. Bullseye tried to charge the GM for not
wearing a halo - that didn't work.
Wait-a-While and Useless-eze took out the low profile award.
Raffles were won by Weed, Toni and Gold Digger. Hashers were reminded to gather at the Barrier
Reef bar on this Saturday night for a buy-your-own pre dinner drink or go straight over
to the Hilton Hotel, turn left on entering to a special room provided for us by
Mondos, for our Christmas dinner.
Cheers and on, on to Saturday - Tutti

Kotex at Home - run 177
|
The Hare, Kotex, said, “You
have a live hare tonight because I just haven’t had the time to set a run,
however there won’t be any hills and we’ll see some interesting spots. So, On, On, out the gate and UP the road opposite.”
Prickle Magnet’s run report
was that it was nice to be on some familiar ground even though is included some
hills!!!! - 6/10.
Returnees: Cupcake,
TeePee, Prickle Magnet, Twisted
Sista, Wiggles.
Before charges were laid,
glasses were filled with champagne and Wiggles proposed a toast to Swampy
(Alias, Paula Morrison), one of our original Harriettes, who died in the early
hours of 28th October, after suffering a terrible illness. She will be very sadly missed by all but we
are sure she will be somewhere “talking in the circle”, and patting every
lonely little dog she comes across. Vale
Swampy.
Charges: Tutti Frutti for telling TP the wrong address
for tonight’s run : Twisty for asking
“where are the arrows” on the live hare run : Mole for not explaining ‘why’:
Nommy for wearing Japanese riding boots (sandals) : Low Profile charge to
Prickle Magnet ?, Bobcat, Cupcake and Nom-de-Plume ?
Awards: Prickle Magnet has now achieved 25 runs.
Raffle was won by Mole
General discussion was held re
our birthday run next month and Mole will enquire about a suitable base for a
meal and a few drinks, with a run along part of the Esplanade to be
included. Check the website nearer the
date.
On, on to all those attending

Stringin' Along on Pearl Necklace's Run - run 176
|
Our standin-stunt-double Grand
Matress, Forty-niner, called on Maid Marion to give a run report, which went
something like this……..”We all went down the hill, and turned towards my house
and then on to the house that Not Yet owns that Mole should’ve built, and then
around about that area before heading on home.
It was well marked. 7/10.”
Returnees: Nom-de-Plume,
Pisspot, Bouncer, 49’er,
Xtractit.
The Hare was charged for
putting on an easy run: Ankles for being
competitive: Maid Marion for being a
front-runner: Pisspot for coming home
sweaty; Ankles, 49’er, Nommy and Maid
Marion for short-cutting: Betty Boop and
Gold Digger for showing off because they had already ‘run’ the Yellow trail
earlier in the day; Xtractit for being
late and nearly running Tutti over: Low
profile award to Koty and Bobcat.
The “Shirt” to Tutti Frutti
for something that I can’t remember!
A discussion was held regarding
an increase the monies paid to the Hare and it was decided to raise it by $5
for a group of 10 or over, but we do not have to raise the cost to the runners
at this time to compensate, so that is good!
When we all had a lovely glass
of champers in hand, the GM proposed a toast toward Swampy who is terminally ill. We all send her our love and kind thoughts at
this sad time.
Next months Harriettes run
will be at Kotex’s home in Monsoon Terrace, Forest Gardens.

Mole's Broken Toe Run - run 175
|
Yes, that
is correct, Mole broke her little toe, not sure how but I’m sure it was
spectactually (this word is not in the dictionary!), anyway although she very
bravely provided the food and brought along the esky as well, she was unable to
actually set the run. However Wiggles
stepped up and took the Harriettes off around the Esplanade and in and out the
streets of Cairns
and even managed to bring the virgins back home safely.
As it was
such a windy, cool evening it was decided we should eat first and then have the
circle – yummy it was too!
We finally
got to the circle and the GM asked for Betty Boop’s run report, which was at
first mumbled (due to the fact that she was still eating) but then she managed
to award a 10/10. W O W!
Returnees
and virgins: Ankles, Bobcat, Gold
Digger, Spread’em, Witch Angel, Marcie, Nicole and Nickie.
Only a few
minimal charges as we were all getting a little cool. Several Harriettes purchased shirts and then
Tutti finally remembered to tell her ‘joke’.
It’s On, on
to Pearl Necklace’s run on the 30th September – address is Corner
Tanganell and Robson Streets (turn into Robson Street opposite the Vico Oval In
Irene Street) Manunda.
Cheers,

Twisty's Twisty Turny Trot - run 174
|
|
It was
lovely to see a couple of our ‘original’ harriettes come along to join in the
run tonight and we all listened eagerly to the Hare’s run advice before setting
off. Twisty said, “You will find that
this is a good run, well marked, and interesting. It took me about two hours to set it, which
included having a coffee and reading a couple of newspapers at a little coffee
shop on the way.”
The
standinstuntdouble GM, Wiggles, asked for a run report from Xtractit who said
that we all set off down the road, around the corner and through the little
park, but it was soon that three harriettes were out in front, which became two
when BT dropped off the pace when trail became hard to follow. Yes, it was very faint in places and
Xtractit said that perhaps the trick would have been for Twisty to have bent
over further to mark trail. Mole commented that the trick would have been to
put in more arrows to make it easier to follow. Betty Boop then demonstrated how far to bend
over when applying the arrows. Xtractit
awarded 4/10.
Returnees: Handbrake, Betty Boop, Oops, Bouncer and
Xtractit.
Charges: BT was charged for not keeping up the pace on
the run because of cracked ribs that she got when she tripped over her own long
trousers. Well that is what she
said! I think that was when Betty Boop
demonstrated how that could happen.
Tutti was
charged for leaving her only joke at home!
The ‘Shirt’
was awarded by Peal Necklace to Xtractic because she commented that only a
dummy would accept the shirt from 49’er to bring to the next harriettes run and
she had refused to bring it. Well
that’s what I think she said!
Can’t
remember who won the raffles but it wasn’t me, so didn’t record it! Next month’s run will be from near the
Cruise Liner wharf on the 26th August, with Mole as Hare.

Harriettes Hollways Hangout - run 173
|
Great roll up
for our first gathering after the ‘lock down’ and there was much chatter and
laughter as we prepared for the walk/run.
The instructions from the Hare were ‘You should enjoy the trail, set on
large arrows and with two regroups – it took three hours to set so……..off you
go!’
The main group
set off eagerly on trail, while those who are a little debilitated set off
along the path in a different direction for a shorter walk. Our GM called for a walker’s report from
Legless who said, ‘We went along the path and then through the bush a bit,
walking at a good pace and enjoying the company.. 8/10.’
The Hare was
given a down-down of course and then some Harriette returnees were
welcomed….Tee Pee, Gold Digger, Tutti Frutti, Cupcake and Legless. Of course everyone else was virtual returnees
also so gave themselves a down-down.
Pearl Necklace was a welcome Virgin.
Some charges
followed:- 49er for trying to lead the
pack astray. TP, 49er and Legless for
not following trail. Should have
charged TP and Swampy for bringing their dogs, Raj and Snoop along to
Harriettes, because they are males!!!
Raffles were
won by Nom de Plume and Pearl Necklace.
The GM managed
to get pledges from some of the Harriettes to set runs in the coming
months. We give out a big thank-you to
Mole for again bringing the drinks along, including a couple of bottles of
champers to share…..and we all enjoyed the chicken and a tasty potato salad
nosh.

CAIRNS HARRIETTES - Small
Get-together during Covid-19 restrictions |
Although
we cannot gather in groups of more than two for our Harriettes Run these two
Edmonton girls got together, in view of Walsh's Pyramid, to have a stroll
around the Mt Peter new Estate.
Returnees:
NudyRudy, Tutti Fruitti
Charges:
NR was charged pushing her head in the way of view of the Pyramid in the
photos.
TF
was charged for standing an making comment of all the garage doors along the
road.
Yes
I know, silly, trivial charges but we still had a down, down each and some
nibbles and drinks, so On, On until next Harriettes run when I hope we
can all get together again.

Meanwhile right the other side of town the GM, Twistie and BT got together for drinks.
Let’s have fun! Girls just wanna have fun!

BT`s Run - run 171
|
From Greenslopes Street, OR
As Mrs Bucket would say,
From Jen’s house with a pool to swim in,
Super new installed kitchen, and room for a large dog to roam
|
A happy group set off after receiving instructions from BT who had
warned it was lovely walk and well marked…….well,
Wiggles in her report said it was a mixed run and they all had problems finding
actual trail but that it is a nice suburb to walk about in so she did an extra
lap around……too short 3/10
Returnees; Ankles, Pisspot, Tutti Fruitti, Nom de Plume
Charges: Kotex and Wiggles for
talking incessantly (as usual): Wiggles
for sending everyone the wrong way on the run: Nom de Plume because she put her elbow up
as if to charge but was only stretching:
Twisty for wardrobe cleansing:
Mole for working soooo hard for all of us: Spreadem for low profile.
Spreadem presented ‘the
shirt’ to Twisty because she
reckons she has never received it.
BT, who, you may remember, was cooking the nosh, asked the gang if “anyone knew how to work an oven”
however we eventually tucked in to a yummy spagghetti bol’ and garlic bread meal

Fortyniners Halloweeen Harriettes - run 167
|
A few Harriettes started
gathering in the park near the Pirate Ship on the Esplanade as previously
instructed however soon realized that the Hare was waiting for us at the flat
across the road. We received
instructions of the run and were told there may be a few surprises en route so
Be Aware on Halloween! As usual the
Harriettes were walking and cheerily chatting until we came upon a Regroup
where the Hare asked one Harriette to choose a Trick or Treat instruction from
a bag, luckily the first was a Treat and she received a gooey, chewy jelly baby
sweet. At the next regroup a Harriette
chose Trick and sang a song for us all, and so on it went! Good idea 49er as it kept the group together
and laughing. Handbrake’s walk report
was that is was a scary one, especially at the second graveyard, however she
awarded an 8/10.
Virgin: Diane
Returnees: Handbrake, RudieNudie, Going Down
Charges: Xtractic for complaining about the length of
the walk: Pisspot for trying to flirt
with a young doctor: 49er for not
gathering over at the park: Xtractit
for pretending to be an acrobat by overacting a fall off the kerb: RudieNudie for laughing at her antics: Maid Marion for appearing to have cobwebs and
spiders all over herself: Pisspot and Xtractic for talking in the circle: Spread’em and Xtractic for talking in the
circle. (What got into Xtractic
tonight !!!!) Going Down for not
wearing Halloween costume: Bouncer and
Tutti for a low profile award.
Awards: Mole gave the Shirt to Xtractit for not
being able to stay on her feet.
Naming: Diane was called out and Mole preceded to go
through a list of possible names that had been discussed about naming her –
such as maybe Once in a While, I’m Easy,
Go Easy – however because it is Halloween and we are the Angels from Heavenly
Hash, she was named Witch Angel.
Welcome to our group Witch Angel.
Hope you have recovered OK
from the fall Xtractit and thanks for an interesting Halloween Run 49’er. Don’t forget it is our Birthday Run next
month, at a venue to be advised, so you can invite your ‘other half’ to come

Mole's Evening Seaside Stroll - run 165
|
It was a balmy evening as we gathered for a
walk from the wharf area. Little
difficulty in finding a park because of all the activities on the Esplanade for
the Cairns Festival but it was lovely seeing all the lights and people
celebrating, including the Ferris Wheel.
Indeed, we were all kept on the ‘straight and narrow’ as there was a
friendly religious group sharing the tables nearby, goodness knows what they
thought of our hash songs but maybe they didn’t hear them as they had a radio
playing their own music. Phew!
Kotex’s run report was – good run but not
many arrows!
Charges :
Kotex for bringing a phone on the run.
Mole for trying to ‘tell off’ some people and was told to mind her own
business (She claims she was only trying to help them). Maid Marion for arriving late and then
wandering off – however, she arrived back safely for the circle and nosh. Kotex for letting her money fly away!!!!
Very tasty nosh, with strawberries and
cream to top it off – thanks Mole.
On, on to Wiggles run next month – venue to
be advised on website as soon as she gets back from Alice Springs.

Cairns Harriettes Run 165 was
from Kotex’s house on Monsoon Terrace and of course it went up the hill, and
around and around – Toe Sucker’s report said she enjoyed the company of the
Cairns Harriettes and the well marked
trail and awarded a 10/10 – now that is definitely a first!
Visitors and Returnees: Toe Sucker from Canberra:
Wiggles, Mole, Bobcat, Betty
Boop.
Charges: Wiggles for being lost on trail: Spread’em for not bringing the cups along: Bobcat for taking a detour: Tutti for shortcutting: Wiggles and Spreadem for being media
tarts. The “Shirt” was awarded to
Mole for reading out all the Value Homes advertising on the run. Raffle prizes won by Tutti and Toe Sucker.
Nosh was Three Course !!! Yummy, hot vegie soup and bread, pasta with
tasty mince and then desert of marshmallow chocs, thanks Koty.

Betty Boop's Bewildering Run - run 162 |
Instructions came thick’n fast from the
Hare trying to explain we should only follow a particular shaped arrow as Runs
had been marked over the previous two nights with some other arrows and signals.
Evidently even these careful
instructions were to little avail as two harriettes gave up early, some others
followed the wrong way and a couple of Harriettes decided to do one section
twice, however they all enjoyed the champagne laden drink stop. Mole’s Run Report said that some did the
trail three times, but as there were no slippery paths, awarded a 6/10.
Visitors:
Tip’m, from Perth Harriettes who was still hanging around after Nash
Hash – and lovely it was to welcome her to our Run.
Returnees:
Bobcat (our occasional returnee) and Maid Marion (nice to see you
again).
Many charges – none very serious - Tip’M because she cleverly chose to wear a
blue shirt to ‘fit in’ with our favourite colour. Fiddler for getting lost and prevented BT
from doing the run. Mole for usually
being very organized but forgot her running shoes. BT for new shoes. Mole for being cruel to toads – or was that
Kotex for being absolutely terrified of toads. Nom-de-Plume for a sexual
assault!!!! Tip’m for turning, up and
Tutti for a low profile.
All agreed that we had a great time at Nash
Hash and Mole handed out a few left-over items for those that wanted them. She also thanked all the Harriettes that
helped out in making our Friday afternoon at Nash Hash a great success.
It’s Tutti Fruitti’s Harriettes run on
Wednesday 26th June, at 76
Supply Road, Bently Park. Please bring torches, a chair and drinking/eating
equipment for yourself, and probably a warm jacket as it is outdoors. Travel instructions: Head south from Cairns along the Bruce
Highway, keeping to the right to enable a right turn at the lights on the
intersection of Robert’s Road, then turn right again almost immediately at the
Puma petrol station and then left into Supply Road, and 76 is on the left side
of this road. See you there or be
square!

Fiddler's Frolic - run 161
|
Lots of cheerful Harriettes
gathered at Fiddler’s home, including a few from ‘overseas’ who have cum here
to attend Nash Hash next week………yes, it has almost arrived and everyone is
getting rather excited! Fiddler sent
the mob off in a general direction of the run held recently – out the back
gate, along the road and into the trees along the lovely beachfront, etc.
We had quite a few
returnees: Mistress, Cupcake, Swampy,
TP, Wiggles, DNA
Visitors from faraway: Black Tulip, Bonetar, Tongue Lasher, and
Seaman Feeder.
Charges were a mixed bunch,
with many being given to BT and BT and TL and TF and SF and….., well you get
the picture. Betty Boop for losing
her halo on the run. Seaman Feeder for
trying to pick up an innocent young man.
TP chg. 49er for being soooo
tall. Bonetar for arriving late, just
because her plane wasn’t on time! BT
for wasting hash booze by breaking a bottle! (sacrilege) Wiggles for confusing Kotex and Tutti – wot,
after all these years. Seaman for not
listening to the circle confusion. Wiggles
again, for bringing a little girl (her grand-daughter) to hash, even if it was
only for a short time.
Clever Black Tulip selected
her own raffle ticket and won the bottle of wine. Mole brought along our new Heavenly
shirts and many purchased them to be worn at Nash Hash The GM advised the Harriettes to go to the
rego desk at Chilles Bar/Restaurant on Friday morning of Nash Hash to check in
and collect their goodies before the walk and lunch.
Next Monday’s Cairns HHH run
will be from Bungalow Hotel, 200
Aumuller Street in Cairns,
however, this scribe is not sure if the cost will be $20 or $25 for your
run, circle, meal and drinks.
Most of the Harriettes then
left but the group doing the Hash Act stayed behind for a little practice (or
should I say, shambles) with Swampy trying desperately to bring the rabble
under control. Hopefully we will all
get a laugh from the final performance

Spreadem's Rainy Run - run 160
|
Harriettes gathered at Spreadem’s new abode
and some thought we should just sit and chat but the majority won out to
actually we all decided to go for the walk in the rain. Twisty’s run report was that it was well
marked – and it probably was before the rain! It was quite pleasant walking
along the new pathway above the beach.
Returnees:
Swampy, Fiddler, Cupcake and
Spreadem
Charges:
Cupcake, Tutti Fruitti, Twisty and Betty Boop for umbrellas. Wiggles for NOT having an umbrella again! Cupcake for cleverly dodging a shoulder
massage from one of the Yorkey’s residents.
Wiggles for being a media-tart appearing in the Cairns Post, and Betty
Boop for an appearance on TV. Low
Profile award to Fiddler.
Hashy Birthday was sung for BT who
celebrates her birthday on 29th Feb – oops, no 29th this
year so it will be 1st March.
There was quite a bit of conversation
regarding the Nash Hash, and our GM noted names for Hares this coming year –
have 5 or 6 so need some more dedication please girls.
Yummy Spaghetti Bol and salad (with plates)
was served, and then there was some talk regarding hashers bringing their own
plates along.
On, on next month to Betty Boop’s Run in
Capricornia Close, Bentley Park.
Cheers,
Tutti

Boopie's Swimmingly Run - run 159
|
To say this was a WET run would be
underselling it………a small group of stoic Harriettes took off to follow McTaff’s
wonderous trail in the rain. Even with
umbrellas we all got wet but enjoyed the challenge. Kotex reckoned it wasn’t well marked but it
was the general opinion that it was amazing we found any marks at all, however
she enjoyed the look-out and awarded a 5/10, so all is good!
Returnee:
Tutti Fruitti
Charges:
Wiggles – no umbrella, poncho or raincoat!!!
Kotex for self-draining
shoes (thongs)
TTF for shortcutting
Mole for being low-profile.
Rigtheraffle: Won by Betty Boop
Kotex and McTaff must be congratulated for
making up some decorations for the Nash Hash Harriettes while the rest of us
were busy discussing things that need to be done for Nash Hash. However, Kotex did mention that she will be
ordering the ‘travel shirts’ proposed for Cairns/Trinity hashers by mid March,
so get your requirements to her asap please.
Betty Boop served a yummy nosh and we all swam out to our cars to head
homeward.

Wiggles' Halloween Walk - run 156
|
We met on the footpath and waited until the
Hare came to lead us on the Walk around the city and then out onto the long
wharf finger – lovely breeze there after the hot day! Fiddler turned up in full Halloween costume
and was very disappointed with the rest of us not making an effort, but she
looked just great. Wiggles escorted us
up to the Penthouse and after removing our sweaty shoes we all collapsed onto
the chairs out on the terrace for a sitdown circle.
Returnees:
PissPot, Fiddler, Bobcat and Xtractit.
Many frivolous charges were laid with
Fiddler trying to charge all the rest of us for not wearing appropriate
Halloween gear. We had to charge Gang
Bang and his brother Russell – just for being there, after all they are not
Harriettes!
Mole, as acting GM, reminded us to register
for the Harriettes luncheon at Nash Hash next year. Some discussion was made regarding our
Birthday run for next month and we will probably be at the Balaclava Hotel –
watch this page for details.
Yummy nosh, with gooey Halloween lollies
and tiny pumpkin chocs, so thanks Wiggles.

Fortyniner's Live Hare Run - run 155
|
We gathered across the road from the Royal Palace
as 49er was trying to decide which way to take the run : Northwards or
Southwards. A lovely cruise liner was
highlighted in the sunset, setting off from Cairns, as we all headed Northwards
through the sandfly infested swamp area where we were welcomed by the local
people heading towards town for the evening, and then onwards toward the
airport drive.
BT’s run report was “Well, I thought it was
a luverly walk and well signposted.” Awarded it with a 5/10, Silly girl seem to have forgotten it was
a live hare!!!!
Returnees:
Cupcake was welcomed back.
Charges:
Mole charged the Hare for supplying sandflies but no anti-spray!
BT for a non hash shirt, and Tutti for
shortcutting.
Kotex, 49er and Spreadem were all
charged…..because.
Tutti gave the ‘shirt’ to Spreadem for
talking endlessly on the phone – well OK I guess it was important.
Kotex won the raffle, and it is On, on, to
Wiggles’ Halloween Run 31st October!
Cheers,
Tutti

KOTIES
KRISS-KROSS STROLL run 154 |
|
“This is going to be a live-hare walk” said
the hare, and the first bit is to move all the cars up to the tennis courts
where the lights are better and the ‘night creatures’ are not about…..so we
did. Then off we went, over the cane
train line and left into DeJarlais
Street, and on and on around the streets of South
Balaklava Road/North Bayview and ‘on home.
Wiggles gave it a 5/10 and the circle welcomed our usual returnee,
Bobcat, back into the fold.
Charges:
Kotex for damaging the lovely flowers:
Bobcat for having won two prizes on the cruise that she and Kotex
enjoyed (with many other locals):
Wiggles for wandering into the ‘MENs” to change her clothes before the
run!!! Each Harriette had a little
giggle at the Dear Dr Ruth joke, well except Mole who couldn’t find her glasses
– oh then she found them as we were packing things up and had a giggle.
The GM had to call the circle to order many
times when we all wandered into the realms of what to give as gifts for the
Nash Hash Harriettes luncheon, and the price we would have to charge to cover
the cost……Registration site will appear on the NH site very soon.
Good nosh of chicken and salad, followed by
yummy strawberries and chocolate, and it is On On to the 26th September
and 49er’s run, address ‘to be advised’.
Cheers, Tutti

Nomi at Holloways- run 153
|
With such a cold on-shore wind blowing we
were all anxious to get cracking on the walk.
The Hare’s instructions were very clear “along the beach front until you
get to the building (the education place or some such) when you have to turn
left, then follow the arrows.” We did,
and then over to the slipway and around the streets of Holloways’s and back
home. Luckily the wind had dropped and
it wasn’t so cold for us tropical living harriettes. Run Reports were by 49er, and BT who
awarded a 15/10!!!! Where did she learn maths?
Virgin: Jo (Xtractit’s sister) was welcomed
in the usual manner.
Charges:
BT for actually running ahead of the pack along the beach!! Kotex for being scared of spiders – methinks
the spider was just as scared! DNA for
being a returnee and low profile award.
It was difficult for us all to recall just who was awarded the “Shirt”
at Tutti’s Run last month, until photographic evidence nailed Tutti
Fruitti…argh. My apologies for causing
such a kuffuffle and it is already in my hash bag ready for next month’s run.
Jokes were told by Tutti, Xtractit,
Spreadem and then BT’s Irish joke…amazing that so many of us remembered to
bring a joke along.
Tasty rissoles with potato salad, green
salad and breadrolls for nosh and Mole had brought along a huge bag of lollies
which were consumed by many.

SPREAD’EM’S MAY
MEANDER run 151
|
The Hare told us
“the run is well marked with white arrows (how unusual) with lots of checks and
a RG, and if you find 3 arrows, you are on trail”. Off we went into the streets of Cairns and at the first
intersection, Wiggles ran off to the left, while BT disappeared into the dark
up Severin Street. The pack finally got it all together and we
continued around this way and that to Mulgrave
Road where most of the girls went further along
while a couple of the walkers, turned back along Severin St. Bit of consternation at the sight of
ambulances and fire trucks at the end of the street however it was not at
Spread’em’s so all was well. Young
Rhiannon arrived back with the runners, looking a little flushed, but she
reckons its all good in helping her slim down a little.
Much chatter
continued and Nom-de-Plume was welcomed back into the fold. BT was presented with The Shirt because she
raced off into the dark, or any other silly reason. Big news though as Kotex was presented with
her engraved champagne glass to mark 100 runs completed….congrats Koty.
Yummy supper was
enjoyed and then it was, On On to Tutti’s run in June.

HARRIETTES FLING WITH
A CRUISE LINER (again) - run 150
|
As we approached out usual possie to start
the Harriettes Wednesday Run, met a
‘senior’ couple waiting to reboard the “Sea Princess”, who said they were
previous hashers from California. They
seemed harmeless so, for their amusement, we told them all our special hash
names – gave them a giggle. Finally we
all assembled and were told look for the checks – we did and set off along the
back of the wharf and into the bowels of the City. Pleasant walking and chatter was heard
around the streets where there were still plenty of people around from
celebrating ANZAC day. Arrived at the
Cenotaph and admired all the beautiful wreaths and bunches of flowers put there
in tribute to fallen loved ones, and I was told that the morning ceremonies had
also been very moving.
We seemed to have lost Piss Pot and BT
somewhere along the way but found them safely back at the wharf “wondering
where we all had got to”. Our Hare,
Mole, set out the food so we all tucked into tasty veg/egg slice and salad,
with chocolate cup cakes and Iced VoVo biscuits to celebrate ANZAC day – no
there were no Anzac biscuits available!
There were some naughty jokes told by Xtractic, who stated that she
could say much worse (or better) if we liked!
Think everyone got to have a drink for some reason or another.
Semi virgin: Rhiannon (Tutti’s grand-daughter) bravely
came on the run to ‘try and lose some after baby fat,’ so she said. She had visited Hash with me a couple of
times before, as a child, so we reckon she was a semi-virgin.
Returnees:
BT, Piss Pot, Spreadem and Xtractit.
Tutti tried to give away the shirt but as
she hadn’t worn it on the run was told to try again next month!!!
Thanks to Mole for timing our trip to the
wharf to enjoy seeing the Sea Princess, all lit up and sailing away down the
harbour……it was getting cool then so we all went home!
Cheers,
Tutti Fruitti

TWISTY’S LAST
EFFORT (for a few months anyway) - run 148
|
As Twisted Sista only found out on Monday
that she had to line up for a colonoscopy on Wednesday, we were all amazed that
she managed to prepare food and make copies of a run for the group……..all in good
nature. What a Harriette!
Heavy rain had almost stopped when most of
us set off to make a token effort for a run – well two of us did a short trail,
while the fitter amongst us actually did a little more than ‘map’ showed. Of course, Twisty did not venture out,
Dancing Queen was commissioned to look after her well being, and 49er had had a
‘procedure’ done on her heart the day before so was a little under the
weather. However, we all rallied around
for a few drinks, lots of chatting and good nosh. Dancing Queen was awarded the ‘shirt’ (just
because) and Mole, PissPot and 49er were welcomed back. Wiggles acted as GM because Spread’em hasn’t
surfaced from her trip to NZ as yet.
Mole reminded us of the Annual General
Meeting for the Croc Nash Hash being held on Wednesday (venue to be advised)
and also that the AGPU for Cairns Hash is at Kneetrembler’s abode on Monday
night. There was a discussion about
changing the venue for our Harriette’s Luncheon but decided that we’ll leave it
a Cazaly’s this month (on the 14th) and decide then where else to
go. So put on your thinking caps and
come up with a suggestion for a suitable venue, keeping in mind that some
Harriettes’s only pop in on their working days so it has to be somewhere
central.

THE CEMETARY TROT - run 147
|
The Hare, Spread’em, advised that the run
was marked well but at any time, and from many places, walkers could choose to
turn for Home if required. So off we
went to the Cemetary once again and many comments regarding the inmates were fluttering
back and forth around the walkers. Of
course, Xtractit cleared off into the far distance and took herself up the red
arrow run, while the rest of the pack wandered about taking different paths to
on home. Chairs were a welcome sight on
such a sticky, hot evening and the cool beer was just the answer. Time went on and still no Xtractit and a few
of us were getting a little anxious thinking she may have had a fall or
something worse, when in she wandered saying, “Sorry to be so late but I wandered
into a group of people at the top of the red arrow, realized I knew one of them
and accepted the glass of red offered. I
did send a message to three of the phones present, saying where I was. What, did you not get them!”
Returnees: Cupcake and Fiddler. Raffle was won by Xtractit (WHITE wine).
The usual frivolous charges were laid and
then we settled in to enjoy the excellent Chilli Concarne, rice and salad
. It was then on to our homes to watch
the Blue Moon eclipse at around 11 pm….just saw it before the clouds took over!
Next run is by Twisted Sista, and we assume
from her house.

DQ at Edge Hill - run 146
|
A
very small group of Harriettes met at Dancing Queen's abode for the
last run of 2017. Off we went following trail - whoops - no
arrows to go round any corners so it was a bit of a guessing
game. Still an enjoyable walk in lovely company. Back to
the keg and nibbles were served upstairs on the veranda then it was
back down for the circle and once again back to the lovely veranda for
a magnificent meal. Thanks DQ, a lovely way to end Harriette runs
for the year and also a lovely evening for my last run.

Our 12th Birthday Run - run 145 |
It
was our birthday so we celebrated. The run left from the carpark
of the Edge Hill Bowls Club and wandered round the neighbourhood.
Back to DQ's home next to the club for the circle and very tasty
nibbles.
The circle got underway with the usual charges and the welcoming of two
virgins to Harriettes. It was then time for a very important
ceremony conducted by Gangbang the RA from Trinity Hash. We had a
naming and Pat will now be known by her hash name of Cupcake!
Welcome Cupcake...
The raffle followed with many prizes, we all then adjourned next door
for a meal at the club followed by delicious birthday cake.

Mole's run - run 144

The
northern end of the Machan's Beach Esplanade was the venue for this
month's run and what a lovely spot it was! Off we went on a well
marked trail of chalk and shredded paper. The trail took us
through parts of Machan's that a lot of us had not seen before and
culminated in a lovely walk along the rockwall pathway on the Esplanade.
Charges were laid and the shirt, having found its way from the depths
of Koty's hash bag, was awarded to Nomi as she looked cold snuggled up
in towel!
Beautiful nosh followed ending a great night in great company at a spectacular venue.

A

the beachfront at Holloways. The trail is on blue ribbon and chalk said
Crackpot so off we went and immediately lost trail, No worries we made
it up until we found trail again and then promptly lost it again!
Back at the keg we tucked into chicken legs and wings and beautiful
salads. Charges from the run followed and a welcome back to returnees.

Tuttie Fruittie in Whitfield - run 142 |
Very
pleasant weather was the order of the day for this month's run in
Whitfield. Off around the suburbs we went, up hills, down hills and up
more hills, following a very well marked trail. Back to the circle and
very decadent nibbles in the form of cheese and cocktail onions on
sticks all set into a grapefruit, along with chippies nibbles and nuts.
The circle got underway and our newest Harriette Pat was welcomed,
charges were laid and the raffle won by Koty. Mole told the sad story
of dropping the bottle of wine as she came out of the bottleshop and
then told of the good news that bottleshop attendant told her to get
another one off the shelf to replace it.
A lovely meal of chicken, ham, salad and coleslaw was followed by fruit
and cream topped mini meringues. Lovely feast, thanks Tuttie. |

Koty's Cruise - run 141 |
The
Harriette's met this month at the Cruise Liner Terminal. Koty has
promised us a cruise ship and she delivered in perfect style, a
magnificent cruise ship was in town for a couple of days. Koty did a
live hare run so off round town we went, meandering here and there and
meeting up with Xtractit and Wiggles in the middle of town, what luck
seeing that there was no trail to follow. Back along the 'Nard.
Back at the circle, charges were laid with Koty being awarded "the
shirt" for promising us a drink stop on the cruise ship and then not
delivering! Time for the cruise ship to depart, we watched it go before
some very tasty nosh, thanks Koty. |

Nomi's ‘Kuranda’ Walk - run 140 |
Instructions
were ‘head toward the Barron and then follow written instructions, two
of which were handed to a couple of Harriettes. Off we went
up to the traffic light, dodging certain death with the traffic and
then over into the dark roads of Stratford.. Turning left after
the shops toward Dalgety Street and further up the hill, went the
pack. After meandering around a bit the call was to head for the
Kuranda Railway Station….wot the!!!!! Now that really would
have been a very long walk, so the pack decided the Hare really and
truly meant the Freshwater Connection Railway Station, and carried
on. One Harriette, who had left the pack earlier, enjoyed
watching the soccer playing at the sports centre, before walking on
home. Everyone arrived safely back saying they had enjoyed
the walk, and chatter, of course. Our GM had a bag of
‘things’ that had been left with her and pulled out several little blue
towels, badges, coolers and other bits and pieces and it was decided to
sell off a few things to raise a few funds.
No
visitors tonight, but a few returnees. Of course the Hare was
given a down-down for citing the Kuranda Railway but praised for the
run by awarding a 7/10 !!! Nomi and Swampy were down-downed
for bringing their dogs, Alex and Snoopy along to the run. Mole
reminded everyone to get their local pledges in for 2019 Nash Hash and
that the next meeting will be on the 6th, venue to be
advised. News of the 2017 Harriettes Run being hosted
by Townsville will be updated after their big run this weekend.
Raffles were won by Tutti and Swampy. A very tasty
nosh was then enjoyed by all. Well done, Nomi.

A Wiggley Walk - run 139 |
 |
 |
 |
 |
 |
 |
|
 |
|
A
slightly cooler evening as the Harriettes set off on their well marked
trail around the streets. Mole had been issued a map (just in
case) as some of the streets are not very well lit, and certainly
not the bike path in the middle of town. The
group split up and some went left down beside the old graveyard, while
the others had disappeared into the dark road along the back.
Then disaster struck !!!??!!! Was it a bat, or a bird, an insect,
a crocodile, a plane or superman, (oops getting carried away a bit
there), or a spider, attacked Mole on the left hand and she only
realized this when someone shone a torch and found a sizeable lump
growing fast on the back the hand. Luckily, she was very
close to the Hospital so she popped in there to get some help. BT
stayed with her and the others came on back to report to the group.
Of course we were all very concerned for Mole and much discussion
was had regarding going up to the hospital and how to get her car home
if she was unable to drive, etc, etc. However, like true
Harriettes we quickly carried on with the circle, the raffle being won
by BT, and then Nomi decided to wrap up some food to take to BT and
Mole while they waited for attention at the hospital.
We all thanked Wiggles for providing a tasty nosh and then took off to
see how Mole was getting on before going home.
The synopsis seems to be that ‘something’ has bitten Mole but that it
was not venomous as the swelling was not ‘hot’ to touch, but the
critter must’ve bitten into a vein which set the blood swelling around
the area. This morning the blackness has spread to the tips
of her fingers but evidently a few days of resting the limb and all
should be well again. We all wish you a quick recovery Mole, and
if you need help at all, your sister Harriettes are only too willing to
be there in a flash (or is that a dash).

XTRACTIT’S XTRA HOT RUN - run 137 |
A
hot and sweaty group of Harriettes gathered at Xtractit’s abode -
some jumped into the pool and others collapsed in chairs to natter –
there was even some discussion about maybe missing a walk altogether
and just bob about in the pool ! However, common
sense prevailed and we all set off on a very well marked trail ‘thru
streets wide and narrow’ which gradually took us to the
Esplanade. Three lucky girls were accosted by a handsome
young man asking if HHH were still running in Cairns and so we make
sure he knew how to find us for a Monday or Tuesday run. We
then stopped for the DS which was most welcome in this oppressive
heat. Some took off along the bike track (naughty
girls) and the rest of us went on to the water-front path where there
was a lovely breeze.
Got back
On Home to find that Ole had managed to find us after her usual
treatment, and most of the Harriettes fell into the pool to cool off.
Wiggles gave the run report and gave it a 7, then it was decided that
it was easier to give a down-down to those that actually turned up for
the last month’s run, than to get all the non-attenders out. We
also gave a cheer of congratulation to Mofl (and Bill) for
managing to put up with one-another for 50 years of
marriage!!!!! Hope they heard it down on the sunny
coast! Mole drew TeePee’s name out for the raffle and we
all shared in bottle of champagne.
Good run, yummy food, nice cold drinks, and a pool, all this and good
company what more could you wish for!

Spreadem at her new home - run 136 |
A
very small group of Heavenly Harriettes met at Spreadem's new home for
this month's run. Out along the streets of Manunda we walked and out to
the Esplanade. A lovely breezy walk along the the Esplanade and back
home. Nibbles were served and the five of us settled down to do what
Harriettes do best, chatter. Spreadem served up some yummy pasta along
with the recipe so we could all get busy!
No photos tonight but a very pleasant evening in good company at Spreadems's lovely house. |
Crackpot at Holloways - run 135 |
 |
A
lovely evening for a Harriette's run, right on the beach at Holloways.
Off we went looking for blue tape, unfortunatley Wiggles was the only
one who spotted some and then we all lost trail. A nice wander along
the beach though with a breeze blowing, a great respite from the humid
days we have been having.
Back at the keg charges were laid and Crackpot was farewelled as she heads down south for 3 months to cuddle grandbabies.
Very tasty nosh was served and it was on for another month. |

HARRIETTES LAST STAND IN 2016 - run 134 |

|
|
 |
The
valiant four set off for a pleasant, Hare guided, walk
around the environs of Brinsmead. Much chatter,
sweating and a few steps along the way through parks, along railway
lines and across roads, we arrived at the cool patio at the Davis
Mansion. We all invaded Bill’s peace and quiet and Mofl served a
very pleasant ‘drink stop’……….we all chatted on for a while, enjoying
the coolness of sitting under a fan, but then carried on down the hill,
heading for our cars. Tried to help a young
lass to catch a little stray dog, to no avail, and then blundered our
way through the very dark trail to the car park.
The
Hare produced lots of lovely nibbles which were delicately placed on
the special tablecloth (the Harriettes shirt) and there were just
enough seats for us all to settle in for some more chatter and
laughter In all a very pleasant evening with good
company.

TUTTI FRUTTI’S HARRIETTES HUSTLE - run 131 |
15
harriettes gathered at the shelter on Greenslopes Street ready for a
nice ‘stroll’ down the road, across the highway and onto the Esplanade
– quite a long way for some in the very warm evening – and there were
some very flushed, sweaty women arriving back looking for a cool drink.
The
usual crowd of Mole, Kotex, Nom-de-Plume, Graduate, Bobcat, Crackpot,
Flapper, 49er, Wiggles and Tutti Frutti, were very happy to welcome
back Bouncer, Danae, Maid Marion, No Knckers and Oops. A
lot of chatter and laughter ensued with a few down-downs being awarded
for various reasons. The raffle prizes were won by Crackpot and
Danae and then discussion was held as to where the run next month was
to be held. According to the computer it is Maid Marion’s Run, but
49er said she would be the Hare if all else failed, so am not sure at
this time just where it will be !!!!
Check the website before the 26th October.
It
was very sad that we had to bid farewell to Graduate, as she is headed
back down to the heady township of Yeppoon (and Cutlery Hash) once
more. Not only will we all miss her company, and willingness to
take on extra runs, but will certainly miss the great ‘nosh’ she
produced every time. I’m sure we will all still enjoy seeing her
many lovely photographs on Facebook from time to time. On, on
Graduate!

HARRIETTES INAUGURAL WEEKEND AWAY |
When
the Cairns Harriettes decided to have a weekend away ‘somewhere to be
decided’, it was Port Douglas that was the first option, however some
visiting Townsville Harriettes said they wanted to come along as well
and so it was decided that Mission Beach would be a more accessible
spot for everyone to gather. By this time some
Harriettes from Mackay said they would be coming along to celebrate as
well.
Then all the hard work started by Mole and Kotex in arranging
accommodation in cabins and camping facilities, and a rough programme
for the weekend.
Several Cairns Harriettes travelled down to Mission Beach during the
week but most arrived on the Friday afternoon or Saturday
morning. I was fortunate to be able to get there on Friday
mid-day and after settling into Cabin 14 put up our blue poster to
guide other Harriettes to our ‘area’ of six cabins, and a glass of
champagne. It was lovely meeting up with old friends and
new as they arrived and much laughter and chatter was heard around the
excellent ‘outdoor lounge’ area in the centre of the caravan
park. We all took walks along the beach and checked out the view
from Clump Point and other points of interest. One
Harriette even started looking into the real estate side of things with
a view to moving into the area!
It
had been arranged for us all to go to the Tavern (Wongaling Beach area)
for our evening meal, but how to get there ?!? Luckily
Spock offered to drive us in relays in Mole’s car to the Tavern as we
could all get back to the caravan park in their courtesy bus, so, off
we all went. Oh, well not all of the group it seems,
as some of the girls were not waiting for Spock, wandered off and he
went back to his caravan to watch telly. The Tavern meal was very
good and pretty well priced and we even got to watch a bit of the
footy. Some of us were fairly tired and decided to call it a day,
but most of the Harriettes headed off for drinkies and a bit of fun in
the local bars. Hope one of them will write a little
note for our web site.
Next
morning, Swampy and DNA were going off to set the run for the
afternoon, and collected Going Down and Tutti Fruitti to join in on the
walk. We wandered along the road and then into the lovely path
running adjacent to the beach, up to Clump Point then back down to
stroll along the beach……..Snoop (the dog) had a glorious time chasing
the stick in the water and rounding us up all the time……..and back to
the caravan park, passing the ideal spot to have the Circle later that
afternoon.
Lunch was next and
everybody joined into the preparation, amid much laughter and chatter
again. Unfortunately I had to leave and couldn’t take part in the
rest of the fun time but I’m sure someone will write a Run/Party Report
in due course so that we can keep it in our records.
Townsville Harriettes are already planning the next ‘get-together’ for
next year, so it’s On, On to Townsville in 2017.
Cheers, Tutti Fruitti |

Koty Kapers at the Cruise Terminal - run 127 |
What
a lovely evening down at the Tourist Wharf – very gentle breeze and NO
rain! Kotex stated, “I haven’t set a run but intend to walk you
through it.” (or words to that effect). Off we went,
roaming around the streets of Cairns all the while chattering away and
then up hill and down dale, oh no, that was up the escalators in
the shopping centre and then down the escalators, then winding our way
down to the Esplanade, passing some shops one had never seen
before. One of our virgins has the misfortune to have
her ‘long unused’ shoes fall apart………well one of them anyway… but
she bravely soldiered on the walk with one shoe and two
socks. Really pleasant walking back along the boardwalk on
that balmy evening and then just before the end we passed a couple
having their wedding photos being taken and the bride, and the
bridesmaid were both resplendent in beautiful flowing red
clothes…really stunning!
Visitors : Leeanne from New Zealand and Xtractit
Virgins: Marie from Gordonvale
Returnees: Nighty,49er and Nomi
Mole
gave a brief report of the NashHash in Bali and how she enjoyed her
birthday and so both she and Marie (whose birthday is coming up)
received a Hashy birthday song. Much chatter and charges (can’t
remember them all) and then we named Marie “Flapper” in reference to
her shoes. Koty presented great nosh of huge chicken legs,(
do chickens really grow this big?) scrumptious salad and muffins for
dessert……well done Koty, and it was On On until the 29th
June. Cheers, Tutti. |

Crackpot in Palm Cove - run 126 |
Only
a small dedicated group of Harriettes arrived at the far northern area
of Palm Cove for Run 126 but it was a balmy evening with the tide high
and even some of the tourists as well. We were told that trail
was marked with chalk (how unusual) and pretty blue gift-wrapping tape
- hmmmm, not very easy to spot in the dark. However as we
all had torches not too big a problem. Off we went through
the park lands beside the caravan park and into streets sporting some
very lovely homes – previously unseen by the
hashers. Next thing Swampy warned we should not
go on with the trail as we would have to be crossing a creek where croc
slides had been spotted, so being thoughtful of our wellbeing we took
another trail to lead us back to the southern end of the beach
road. Swampy was having a little trouble with
blisters and so decided to go barefoot onto the sand and walk on home
along the beach……..bit risky I thought, as a croc or two could have
been just hoping someone would do that………however she arrived back in
good form. The rest of us followed the path and we all
enjoyed the lovely evening and cheerful company.
Swampy
gave a run report and awarded the run 8/10, but Wiggles deducted one
point for lack of some signage, however, 7/10 is a very good mark.
Wiggles was charged for having to turn around and travel back home to get her shoes.
Crackpot charged for trying to get rid of a couple of Harriettes to the crocodiles.
Swampy for being afraid of crocs, - fancy that!
DNA charged for still turning up at Harriettes without proper shirt and
Mole presented her with a Red Dress pink shirt – see photo.
Mole and Tutti Frutti for maintaining a low profile.
Thanks
to Crackpot for scrumptious food (lots of it), especially the
kebabs. Much chatter about Mole going overseas to celebrate
her birthday in a couple of weeks, Wiggles going to New
Zealand and then Canada and celebrating her 60th birthday, and Swampy
off to Peru at the end of the month.
Harriettes
luncheon will be on the 11th May, 12.45 pm cost of $12 for members and
then it is On On to the next run on 25th May. – check the website for

MOFL in Brinsmead - run 125 |
 |
 |
 |
A
pleasant evening for a stroll around Brinsmead and back to the Bears
Baseball Club. Visitor Jan was welcomed, charges were laid along with
plenty of chatter.
Nosh was eaten and it is on on to the last Wednesday next month for another Harriette run. |
Mole at Greenslopes Street - run 124 |
A
very depleted group of Harriettes met at the BBQ area in Greenslopes
Street for Mole's run. First stop was the newly completed Chinese
Garden, really lovely. Then it was a walk around Saltwater Lakes, along
one of the boardwalks and back to the BBQ area. Just a nice relaxing
walk. Nibbles and a wonderful quiche and salad and even macaroons
for sweets were demolished before the charges go underway.
Wiggles was charged for pretending to limp, MOFL was charged for a
couple of things including not turning up last month! Maid Marian was
charged for being late and greatly adding to the number of those
present.
The highlight of the evening was the presentation to Tuitti Fruttie of
her wine glass for actually turning up to Harriettes 100 times - well
done!!
Mole ended up with the shirt for remembering all the wonderful food,
being beautifully organised and then forgetting to bring her Hash gear
- Weed does come in useful sometimes!!

Graduate in Abbott Street - run 119 |
A
beautiful evening in town was the scene for this month's Harriette's
run at the home of Graduate. Off went following trail and unfortunately
trail from Wanker's Tuesday night Trinity run. Arrows did get a bit
confusing at times even though Graduate had done her best to cross out
the arrows that were not ours. Back at the circle there were
yummy nibbles and much chatter. Graduate was down-downed, returnees
were returned.
Charges were laid including Nightie who became the stand-in, lookalike
for Wanker for daring to have a run the night before Harriette's and
having it over the same area - how dare she!!
Bobcat was awarded the Shirt and struck a splendid pose to model it!
We then adjourned upstairs to Graduate's unit to enjoy a lovely feast
of chicken, salads and roast potatoes. Great Nosh Graduate - thanks.
Next month's run is our 10th Birthday celebrations and we are returning
to the place we were born 10 years ago, the Cape York Hotel. See the
flyer on our front page or on the news page of the HHH website for all
the details. |

TeePee at Greenslopes - run 118 |
The
Harriette's met tonight at Koty's favourite venue - the BBQ area in
Greenslopes Street. TeePee was the hare and she told us the run was on
chalk and shredded paper, it was - lovely neat chalk marks with a
little mound of shredded paper alongside - very well marked. Along
through streets, cycle paths and walking paths we tracked. We even
covered some virgin hash territory. Back at the BBQ area the
charges started. Simona was welcomed as a visitor, the hare was charged
for having a great run and Nightie was charged for no hash gear.
Wiggles was charged for looking splendid in pink, Crackpot for wearing
Harriette shirt with no badge and Jeanette just 'cos...... 49er was
charged with something and Mole and Tuttie Fruittie because they had
not been charged (it really does make sense) Nomi parted with the Shirt
and Graduate will look after it for the next month! No doubt wearing it
to all social engagements!
The food that followed was absolutely beautiful right down to the
strawberries with butterscotch sauce and some neat little
biscuits/cakes. Thanks Teepee that was superb!! |

found trail, lost trail and made it up as we went along! Back at
the circle, Twisted Sista returned and Jeanette came for the first
time, Wiggles came late, changing bike tyres or some other implausible
story!!
Plenty of chatter and nosh of rissoles and yummy mash potato. |

Wiggles on the Nard - run 113 |
|
A
small group of Harriettes met at the ex pirate ship on the Esplanade
for this month's run. "I haven't set a run" said Wiggles, that was not
a problem with the Nard stretching out in front of us. Off we went
along the Esplanade, right turn past the RSL, through the Night Markets
and back down the Nard to the BBQ area at Chez Wiggles.
Circle got underway with our stand-in GM 49er. Charges were laid,
Nightie drank a beer and Mole joined the very elite club of only 2
members, those who have completed 100 runs. She was presented with an
engraved wine glass. Mole was also presented with the "new" Harriette
shirt.
Wiggles won the raffle and served up some very yummy nosh. Thanks Wiggles. |

Graduate at Trinity Beach - run 112 |
If
you are a Harriette and you didn't come to Graduate's run you missed an
excellent night. The weather was fine, although a tad steamy as we
headed out over the park at the back of Graduate's unit. We followed a
well marked trail until nattering got the better of us and we missed a
turning. We back tracked and found trail again. On up to a drink stop
perched way high on the headland overlooking the ocean - beautiful.
Back down past some lovely holiday units, past the Trinity Tavern on
the waterfront and back to Oyster Court.
A tray of fruit and then bowls of popcorn greeted us, they went down very well with a cold drink!
The circle got underway. The hare was down downed, returnees welcomed
back and Wiggles was presented with a wine glass in recognition of her
100th run - Well done Wiggles!
Graduate then bought out a spinach and cheese cannelloni to die for
along with roast veges. This, just in case we hadn't eaten enough, was
followed by chocolate mousse and raspberries. We were certainly spoilt!
A great evening, great company and superb food! |

Wiggles on the 'Nard - run 103 |
A
bunch of lovely Cairns Harriettes lined up on the Esplanade to tackle
the mossies and tourists inhabiting the area. It was a beautiful and
balmy evening and the instructions from Hare wiggles were
“I don’t know where it goes because Moana set the run” . That’s
what happens when you are retired and have nothing better
to do. Thanks Moana.
So we started off along the beach front and found trail. It led in and
out and around the streets of Cairns city, past some great
opportunities for Harriette shopping (ie the night markets) but cunning
Moana did not take us through them . Must have been a ploy!! We
wandered all the way down to the casino and then veered left to the
pier. Along the boardwalks and water front, admiring the boats
and looking at all the people dining out and felt very envious.
We were met near the helipad by Wiggles and the drink stop and consumed
red frogs and refreshing drinks..
It was then back along the esplanade to the circle.
I reckon about 6klm all together. Well done to Wiggles for getting Moana to set a good run for us.
Circe up and we welcomed returnees’, Maid Marian, Bobcat and Fiddler.
Charges to Waggles for having the foresight to get a hashman to set a
Harriettes run!! Charges for a couple of Harriettes who tried to lead
the pack astray but we knew!! Charges to Mole` for remembering to wear
the new GPS thing but for turning it off halfway through the run.
Chicken and salad for great nosh and we had to leave to watch either
State of Origin or Offspring – the pack was split over that one. |

49'ers Touchy Run - run 102 |
A
small group of Harriettes gathered at the Touch Football grounds at
Aeroglen on a lovely cool evening in
Cairns. Numbers were down but spirits
were high as we set off along nearby roads and into a patch of bush
where 49er had set a false trail following the creek but we cleverly
sensed her deviousness (is that a word?) and carried on out onto the
grass to a pleasant drink stop. It was only a short run but
much chatter took place, as usual, and we were soon On Home and able to
sit and observe the young, fit people playing touch football.
Our
GM was having a relaxed day and just sat and gave the orders for the
circle – a few charges were handed out to each of us for some reason or
another and then we tucked into Nosh kindly prepared by Royal T.
All in all is was a very enjoyable, chatty evening.

VIRGIN GM ‘SPREAD’EM’S’ HOLLOWAY EXPERIENCE - run 101 |
Run
at the BBQ Holloways Beach was the instruction, so some of us turned up
to the BBQ we usually use only to find that the GM and some early
arrivers were in place near the restaurant. Moved cars and
gear along there and about to settle in when it was decided to move
back along to where we usually go !!!!!! Moved cars and
gear back again and finally all got together.
After
a lot of chatter the GM said well On, On is on blue chalk so we all
wandered up near the cars where Nommy and myself had spotted an arrow
earlier, HOWEVER, had not spotted the check nearby so much confusion
arose as to just where the trail went – some went along the beach
front, others along the roads – all finally met up and started
following trail. Lost trail again, and even
Nommy didn’t spot any blue chalk in the bushes (on one of her visits)
and so the pack was a bit bewildered for a while but Mole directed the
all of us to the drink stop which was at the local football
club. We were approached by a very nice chap trying to sell
us tickets in the meat tray (or something similar) but Wiggles was the
only one who had any money to help out. We did ask him to
join us on the run but sadly, he declined. Left the
football club and slightly short-cutted to on home at the beach again.
We
welcomed a virgin – Barbara (friend of Spread’em) and returnee
Fiddler. Tutti was charged for not seeing the ‘check’ so dragged
Nommy into the charge as well. Tutti was also charged for wandering off
trail and nearly getting lost (what, lost at Holloways, I don’t think
so) and so she dragged Fortyniner into the charge as well because she
was with her. The raffle was won by
Nom-de-Plume who handed it back because she has “won so many recently”
so it was a redraw with Mole winning.
We all enjoyed the cheese, crackers and fruit and then Spread’em produced chicken and breadrolls to top off a good fun night.
Well done Spread’em!
Cheers, Tutti Frutti |

8th Birthday Celebrations - run 97 |
Cairns
Harriettes and Hashers met at the BBQ area near the Pier for the start
of our birthday celebrations. Off we went with our tour guide Betty
Boop. She took us from the tip of Cape York, to Venice, into Harrods
and the wilds of Borneo and all points in between. We got quite a few
stares & smiles as we walked through town wearing our halos. Three
hashers, who shall remain nameless short cutted and found their way to
a watering hole but Pythagoras and Helmet managed to stay with the
Harriettes. Thirsty and hungry after our world trip we descended on the
Cruise Terminal to welcome nibbles, champagne and birthday cake
organised by Mole.

GRADUATE’S GHOSTLY HALLOWEEN HOWLER - run 96 |
Cairns
Harriettes Coven gathered together at the wharf area bedecked with
black attire and ghostly trimmings and were soon flitting around the
streets of Cairns to eventually regather at the Pioneer Cemetery (where
else, I ask you!?!) to share in a delicious drink of bats blood – oops,
I mean strawberry cordial, pink champagne and eye of bat (lychees).
As the Harriettes started to leave the Cemetery we
were accosted by a darkly dressed warlock…………….no, I lie, it was the
guy who was waiting for us to leave so that he could lock the gates
behind us.
This was the Virgin
Harriettes Run for Graduate, and with the able assistance of Fortyniner
she set a fairly long trail for our ghostly
evening. Betty Boop saw to it that our virgins,
Pat and Maria, had some suitable attire, as well as some for the
regulars who seemed to have forgotten it was Halloween! Nighty
gave the run report and said it was a good run and it was awarded
9/10, but of course we couldn’t really have that and so Wiggles
stated that it wasn’t very well marked (not true) and 3 points were
deducted. Fortyniner argued that it wasn’t badly
marked, especially as it had been done backwards !!!!!! ( Wot
the!) so 1 point was added on again, and then another for
the great drink stop refresher so I think this all ended up being an
8/10………….congrats Graduate!
Anyway, we had some returnees :- Bobcat, Dancing Queen, Kotex,
Bouncer and Tutti Frutti. There were numerous charges
– mostly frivolous – but Wiggles had to be admonished by the GM several
times for chatting in the circle – yeh, thats right, Harriettes chat
whereas Harriers just talk – anyway Wiggles and her co conspirator,
Kotex had to receive a smack on the bottom with the witches broom to
bring them into line. Good job that Tutti is used to
smacking naughty children so she admonished the punishment!
Congrats to Bouncer for having completed more than 24 runs and she
received her little ‘H’ for Harriettes.
Nosh consisted of Rats in Blood (Rissoles)
Potatoes and other vegs containing eyeballs, and salad
Served on very suitable plates with a Halloween theme
(please see photos for a better idea)
Well
done Graduate and Fortyniner, and we will all get together again next
month for our 8th Birthday Celebrations at a restaurant in
Cairns. Harriettes partners and friends are invited along
to join in the fun so check the web for details.

Mole & TeePee at Greenslopes Street |
A
larger than normal pack met at the BBQ area in Greenslopes Street for
the run shared by Mole & Teepee. Mole was to have set the run but a
hasher who shall remain nameless but commonly known as the RA kept her
for a meeting at work - how dare he, Harriettes is much more
important!! Off we went with Mole setting chalk marks as we walked -
much laughter as we came to checks that had just been set but still
searching fruitlessly in different directions. It was decided MOFL was
blind because she checked one check, declared no markings while Mole
coming behind her set the chalk mark!! How could she have missed it? A
great walk with a drink stop supplied by Teepee and Raj who was
pretending to be a girl dog just for tonight. Back to the circle
for tasty nibbles and welcome back to a lot of Harriettes, there were
more returnees than non-returnees. Welcome back to Oops, Nightie, Maid
Marian and Graduate to name just a few. Our GM & BB had also
returned. Charges were laid and BB gave us a run-down on hashing in
some of the countries she had visited on her BIG overseas trip. Mole
gave us a run-down on Euro Hash which sounded great fun!
Beautiful chicken and salad followed - thanks Teepee. A great night with great company! |

MOFL at Glenoma Park - run 94 |
Only
a small, but cheerful, pack for this enjoyable run through the
Brinsmead parks and streets, with a drink stop at Mofl
Mansion. Quite a few of the regulars were absent for
different reasons but we welcomed Bumper Sticka and Bouncer back
into the fold!
The
pack spread out on trail with Bouncer keeping Tutti Frutti company,
limping along. However, we all managed to arrive back
in good time to watch some young and reasonably fit young men training
for touch football under the bright lights of Glenoma Park.
Charges were laid – this Harriette can’t seem to remember what for tho’- and then we all tucked into Mofl’s sumptuous nosh!
Oh
dear, wasn’t Tutti lucky that Mole had jumper leads and Mofl’s
ute was up to the task of getting her car started – who knows what
would have happened if Tutti had been left alone with all those young,
fit males!
Once again, well done Mofl!

The
Harriettes met at the ex Pirate Ship on the Esplanade, which happens to

not set a run - she has been too busy becoming a grandmother -
congratulations to all. We are Harriettes - we can do anything - so a
quick decision was made to walk along the Esplanade to the Cruise
Terminal, have a drink stop and return. Off we went with the front
walkers setting a cracking pace. Plenty of eye candy to keep us amused
and a lovely evening in down - town Cairns. |
Back
to Wiggles' apartment complex and a beautiful BBQ area. The GM was busy
earning a living so a shy, retiring, returning Oops became the guest GM
- a GGM. Down downs were taken, charges were laid and a great group

A
group of Harriettes met at Handbrake's Dad's home in Manunda for
Handbrake's life-hare trail. Off through the wilds of Manunda we
trudged following the fast moving Handbrake and the shouts of on on and
on left!! At one of the regroups Handbrake gave us the option to return
to home or come up the hills. Most Harriettes opted to go up the hills.
The views were well worth it and the workout I am sure did the legs
some good. Back down to ground level, a walk along Reservoir Road and
back to the keg. Charges followed and Bo Peep and Handbrake
were welcomed back. Nosh, put on by Mole was delicious. Not forgetting

Manunda Madness - run 81 |
If
you missed the Harriette’s run on Wednesday night you missed a
really good night. A small group met at Value Homes on Mulgrave
Road and just after 6pm started the run around the streets of
Manunda. Not sure who set the run, either Mole or Betty but it
was well marked and kept us on our toes with cunning checks that could
of gone any which way. Through the deserted DFO car park and out
to the Raintrees Tavern for our first surprise – a drink stop in the
Tavern. Out again and off following trail to Gatton
Street and our second drink stop – this time the West Cairns Bowls
Club, much to the delight of four or five drinkers who were in the bar!
Back into the night and we made our way back to Value Homes and lovely
nosh put on by Crunchy and BB. The usual down-downs and lots of
chat!
Well done Mole, BB & Crunchy, it was a top night.

6th Birthday Run |
An
excited pack rolled up to the popular Thais Coins Restaurant on
Mulgrave Road suitably sky blue attired harriettes arrived and invitees
(man harriettes) who made the effort to wear harriette shirts or blue
shirts. This made them look just like the real thing so nobody could
tell they were imposters. The trail was set so off the pack went .some
returned early while others followed all trail and once returned into
the keg the pack got. much socialising and jocularity and champagne
quaffing while enjoying tasty nibbles. Awhile later crunchy convened
the circle and the fun began. Many charges came thick and fast and much
champagne was drunk. Scribe can’t exactly remember what they were but
they were fun and keg mistress moley made sure the down downs arrived
promptly. Hairy harriettes were duly welcomed to the circle. CONDOM,
NOTYET GANG BANG, MCTAF ,LOSTY and probably a few others but
scribe had drunk champagne by then so it’s all a bit blurry. Returnee
harriette Swampy was welcomed and the circle continued .it was good to
see the return of Noway after illness and still the fun rolled on.
Raffle prizes were drawn and the rather well drawn male model endured
many a poking and prodding of the comedy willy to help identify
the raffle prize winners. By this time Bumpa stikher had recovered from
her bicycle fall which occurred on the way to the event even before any
champagne had been consumed. Nommy gave her approval for the amount of
fun she had during the evening and the pack enjoyed
fabulous freshly prepared Thai nosh which kept on coming thick and
fast. Lots of laughing champagne, frivolity and harriette antics made
for a great birthday party. ON ON |

MOFL's MEANDER - RUN 70 |
Heavenly Hash gets blown away!!
A large pack of Harriettes turned up on the Esplanade for MOFL’s farewell run….. for a while. We
headed out the north end and wandered aimlessly around and around. Luckily we found lots of trail
and no body got lost!! The wind was ferocious and we had to hang to each other in case we were
blown away – not bad for a Harriett. Fantastic night for a run along the boardwalk and Esplanade
great to see so many people about. There was also some eye candy to keep us amused. We had
a couple of returnees in Plaything and VD and a visitor in Long Time Cumming from Angeles City.
There were many charged given out tonight, the 69th raffle was won by Handbrake and it was all
topped off by great nosh as MOFL did the 5 loaves and 2 fished things and fed the thousands . |
